It’s been a spectacular Summer at Lakeshore. Not only was the weather fabulous, but the pool had a tremendous year in all programs. We are all so proud of our Lakeshore Community! But it’s not over just yet. Our annual Closing BBQ is this Saturday, August 27th. As I type, the forecast for Saturday is sunny with only a bit of cloud, a high of 25 (feeling like 28). Sounds just about perfect. Here is what you need to know:

  • Activities and games start around 2:00 pm
  • Dinner will start around 5:00 pm
  • We will have burgers and hotdogs for sale
  • We will have beer and perhaps sangria as well for sale
  • If you wish, you may bring what you would like to grill for dinner (the grill is plenty big enough to share though we may need to take turns cooking.) Please no shellfish due to some allergies we have learned of.

In keeping with our past tradition, your contributions would be appreciated as follows:

  • Families whose last name begins with the letter A – M are asked to bring a dessert to share
  • Families whose last name begins with the letter N – Z are asked to bring a salad to share

As a tradition,  the kids are invited to build a boat for a race (will require one person to ride the boat and others to move the boat along).

The committee and I are very much looking forward to seeing you all there. Please come make this a day to remember. The laughter was raucous last year – let’s see if we can make it even louder

We were up against a lot of rainy weather- but this did not deter smiles, team spirit and great effort to create a fun and memorable day- not to mention a winning meet for Lakeshore! We’ll be sure to send out the final scores once we get our hands on them! The meet could not have run as smoothly without everyone’s help, so again- Thank you! A BIG congratulations to all swimmers who competed at Section Finals! Best wishes to those heading to Finals next Saturday at Cedar Park Heights Pool- ask your coaches for more details!

Lakeshore is hosting SECTION FINALS for A POOLS on August 13 – WE NEED YOUR HELP

On Saturday August 13, Lakeshore Pool will be hosting the Section Finals for A pools -all the pools we’ve swam against this summer. This will be a huge event for Lakeshore- similar to the Finals we hosted last summer. It’s a very rare occurrence for our pool to be hosting such significant events two years in a row. As we know from last year, it takes MANY people to make this event a great success. We are reaching out to the Lakeshore community once again to ask for your help!

If you would like to be a part of a day that promises to have lots of energy, excitement and fun- this is your chance!!!

Most of the volunteering will centre around food on the day of the event- set up, preparation and selling of food! Beyond this, there will be a need for setup on Friday evening, clean up on Saturday afternoon, helping with parking, raffle organization and a few other posts with details coming soon. Please note that Lakeshore will not be responsible for providing officials. All officials will be supplied by ALPS -Association of Lakeshore Pools.

If you can spare the morning or even a few hours, it would be greatly appreciated. If you are a parent of a swimmer or swimmers in the Section Finals, we would be so happy to have your help in advance or even between your children’s races on the day of the event. Please send me an email and let me know if you’re able to help and when. The times will likely range from 5pm to 9pm on Friday evening and 6am to 3pm on Saturday.

If you would like to contribute to the day but can not be there, we would greatly appreciate a donation of baked goods or a contribution for the raffle.

We’re also looking for a few people to help with advanced preparation:

  • BAKE TABLE COORDINATOR
  • PARKING COORDINATOR
  • RAFFLE ORGANIZER

Les résultats de la compétition 20 julliet

Voici les résultats de la compétition d’hier LAKESHORE 567 points – CAVIP 477 points ! C’était un plaisir d’entendre les encouragements et de voir les sourires sur les visages de chacun ! Merci à tous les nageurs, bénévoles, sauveteurs, aux familles et amis qui sont venus encourager notre équipe !

Nous sommes déjà à la moitié de la saison pour les compétitions. La semaine prochaine la compétition aura lieu à Lakeshore contre Beaurepaire. Nous aurons besoin de 8 à 10 bénévoles. Plusieurs familles seront en déplacement à Calgary la semaine prochaine pour les championnat junior canadien. Bonne chance à tous les nageurs ! La semaine qui suivra (3 août) la compétition aura lieu à Valois et nous aurons besoin de 10 à 12 bénévoles. La dernière compétition aura lieu à domicile contre Windemere et nous aurons besoin de 16 bénévoles. Finalement Lakeshore sera l’hôte de la final de sections samedi le 13 août, nous vous tiendrons au courant des détails dans les prochaines semaines.

Encore une fois bravo à nos nageurs et merci à nos bénévoles qui nous aident cet été, nous ne pourrions y arriver sans vous !!!

RECAP of CAVIP MEET and Looking Ahead!

Here are the results you’ve all been waiting for- LAKESHORE 567 points vs CAVIP 477 points! It was great to hear all the loud cheers and to see so many smiling faces around the pool last night! Thank you to all swimmers, volunteers, lifeguards, families and friends who came out last night to support the team!!

We are midway through Wednesday summer meets. Next week (July 27) we’re at HOME swimming against Beaurepaire- we will need 8 to 10 more volunteers for this meet. Several Lakeshore families will be travelling to Calgary next week for Junior Nationals- Best wishes to all swimmers competing in this BIG event! The following week (Aug 3), we’ll be AWAY at Valois and will need about 10 to 12 for this one. The final Weds night meet will be at HOME vs Windermere- we’ll need about 16 more volunteers. Lastly, Lakeshore will be hosting SECTION FINALS on Saturday August 13, 2016! Stay tuned for more information!

Again, Congratulations to Lakeshore swimmers and thank you to all volunteers who have helped out at the swim meets this summer – we couldn’t do all of this without you!!
